I made a delicious dinner with smoked salmon last evening. What a delightful blessing, all except… this morning, as I waltzed into my nice, clean kitchen, the odor of FISH lingered!

What IS that smell?
Not such a Blessing, huh? At least I don’t think so. When your kitchen smells like the ghost of dinners past, what is a mom to do? And do it quickly?
I learned this lesson last year when I had house guests. I almost always diffuse Lemon oil! Diffusing is a great idea, and a clean way to leave my smelly-kitchen worries behind the moment I leave the room in the evening. I load up some distilled water and lemon oil into my lovely diffuser, and the fishy-clouds of stink are gone in a few moments. In the place is a fresh, clean, sunny aroma of Lemons and freshness!

Lemon Oil is the answer to many dilemmas. When a child’s sticker leaves residue on my car window, I defy the sticky, oo-wie paste-y glue with Lemon oil. The price is low, and well worth it.
I know that there are no harmful chemicals there, either. I don’t have to worry with wearing gloves, or protecting the children I carry around in my car because of toxic odors or cleaning products.

When you need a little more spring in your step, you dilute Lemon with a carrier oil. Dab it on your wrist. Life is full of Lemon moments; it’s no wonder this essential oil is a Young Living favorite!

What about using lemon essential oil with children?
There are a few potential precautions or contraindications when using lemon essential oil, especially with children. It’s important to be cautious due to lemon oil’s potent nature. Here are some key precautions and contraindications to consider:
Dilution: Essential oils should never be used undiluted on the skin. For children under 12 years old, safe dilutions generally range from 0.5 to 2.5 % – depending on the child’s weight and height. Never apply lemon essential oil directly to the skin or add it to bath water for babies or young children, as it may cause irritation in some cases.
Swallowing: Make sure the child does not ingest the lemon oil undiluted. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can be toxic if swallowed.
Overuse: Be mindful of the frequency and quantity of use. Use moderately.
