A Cozy, Colorful Porch (Project # 19)

NOW is the perfect Season to celebrate Alfresco occasions…

from elegant afternoon teas

to simple evening parties.

We are sprucing up our outside living space

in preparation for the Summer.

We pulled out our “Flag Day” box from Storage to add Flags to the mix.

I love going from pinks and yellows, to RED, WHITE and BLUE for summer.

After living in the South for more than half of my adult life,

I am easily able to wax poetic about lazy summer afternoons

spent lounging in the breeze on the porch.

Now that we live in the Northeast,

the summers are even more wonderful.

This summer has been particularly mild,

with temperatures barely leaving the 80’s most days.

Compared to the scorching South,

I sometimes feel like I moved to a mild tropical island

when I sit by local pool, reading, dreaming,  and enjoying the cool wind.

I love to look at the clouds… and daydream.

I have goals to (some day) set up a sweet living area out back,

defining the zone with a rug,

comfortable seating,

and an eating area with a gorgeous table and chairs.

Like in the Magazines.

At that time,  our family will have casual meals on the deck

whenever the sun warms the yard.

That’s how the Dream goes, anyway.

I plan to have extra seating on hand

for when the neighbors, my sister,

or my parents join our gatherings.

It will be marvelous.

But for now, I am sprucing up the Front Porch since funds for big, fancy tables and chairs are scarce.

I am content to dream and wait for my fabulous back yard getaway.  Right now I am working on making the front of the house warm, colorful, and Welcoming

Here’s a little place to sit a spell and watch the people pass by…

What do you do to bring color and a welcoming feel to your front porch?
