White, Done Right

 I   LOVE White.

White feels so calming, and as a decorating color scheme, it truly soothes my soul.

After a hectic, stressful 12 hour shift working at the Hospital,

I find a need to retreat to a tranquil, nondramatic environment,

A room with primarily white surroundings allows me to relax.

To me, natural wood looks fantastic with white, too!

Either bright or muted accent colors can easily be added

whenever one feels the urge for more color.

When we were selling our home in Arkansas,

many of the potential buyers who viewed our home

complained that there was “too much White.”

I disagree…

While I realize that most people paint the rooms of their homes

in vivid reds, plum, and greens,

my preference is to paint the walls a muted antique white,

adding in color using

furniture, curtains, foliage, and pillows.

It is far easier to change the look of a room for the Holidays

when using my preferred scheme of mostly White.

In December, we trade out most of the White and Blue for Red and Green in the Cottage. I collect tablecloths, candles, and anything to bring in more of these festive colors. It really changes the whole look of the Home!
Red gingham sheets come off the kid's bed and cover several armchairs. Green pillow covers hide the blue toile for the Holiday Season.

We have many family traditions that bring more colors into our days during the Christmas Season.

A White Color scheme just makes sense for me.

White surroundings are effective in promoting peace,

but can be easily changed when desired.

What is your favorite color scheme for the Home?
