Blue Willow

Helping to Make Home a Safe, Comfortable, Easy Place to Live

Author: bluewillowcottage

Welcome to the cottage. My name is Dawne, and I am a Christian mother, home-educator, nurse, freelancer, and self-taught herbalist. I believe in lifelong learning, creativity, and love… Oh, and oils! My great passion is helping other families become healthier with herbs, oils, and good common sense. I share recipes and ideas which sometimes include my backyard-grown herbs, and/or oils. I love to teach my ideas about optimal family health in workshops online, in classes locally, and even by having learning parties for children. In addition, I love showing others how I make our tiny home into a beautiful, welcoming cottage.

“Anyone can hold the helm when the Sea is calm,” my Grandmother May told me as we gathered the tomatoes and cucumbers for that night’s Dinner Salad.

I was 8 years old, spending a week with my Great Grandmother in Paw Paw, West Virginia during summer break.

The Attitude-Impaired Morning

I never do well staying up late at night. Last night I was out until after 11:30 pm with some friends… Support, we call it…
At Panera Bread. It was wonderful, and although I promised myself I would leave on the dot at 9pm,
I stayed until the vacuuming was completed at the Restaurant.

Dabbling in Dirt

From the time I could hold a trowel, I have loved to garden. I am grateful to have come from a long line of great gardeners on both sides of my family.  Grandmothers, aunts, sister, and cousins have shared cherished family seeds and cuttings, and handed down the secrets of excellent gardening to each new… Read More Dabbling in Dirt
